Ayden, NC - Retired Army Sergeant Joseph Mitchell has been arrested for what Ayden Police describe as indecent liberties with a 14-year-old student.
Chief Tim Moseley stated, “He picked her up at a public location here in Ayden, went to her home and in fact went inside her home and there was some inappropriate touching- allegedly.
Mitchell has been placed on administrative leave with pay pending an investigation. The teacher’s classes have been taken over by a substitute and the head JROTC instructor.
No other students were said to be involved. Mitchell has been with the district for little over a year.
