Stigma – Yale Law School Stop and Frisk synopsis Ft.Nycresistance

Synopsis The law permits police officers to stop and frisk people based on “reasonable suspicion.” Do “Stop and Frisk” police practices cause racial profiling, or deter crime? “Stigma” explores the dynamic between the community and the police through the eyes of three people who grew up on the streets of New York City. yalevisuallawproject.org

Instead of insisting that police abuse races equally, how about we end the idea of police services being provided by stolen money. Communities are better off with charitable solutions, private protection agencies, and people assuming personal responsibility for their protection.

I had the same thing happen to me when I was 14. I was such an innocent nerdy type, but a foreigner to these pigs. They abused their powers and I could do nothing about it. As an adult, I refuse to pay tax. I help criminals when ever I can because I am treated like one, so I joined them. My greatest wish is to cause the death of a pig.

The only good pig is a dead one.

I don’t give a fuck what the lawyers, media and cops say, stop and frisk is criminal and I file a suit with the comptrollers office and get paid for the violation of my rights. the cops don’t fuck with me no more cause they know I know my rights as a natural human.

There needs to be a balance in society between safety and freedom. Some freedoms need to be given up for safety but I think the question today is, have too many freedoms been given up for “perceived” safety ?

I love the part at 09:06 when it shows the statistic of racial distribution of the stop and frisks.

I wish it would show the income or level of wealth (better yet the lack of) in stop and frisks. White black, brown or whatever. I bet ALMOST all the stop and frisks of people in the lowest income brackets eg 0 -30,0000$.

@Metals999 You are worng about giving up some freedoms to be safe so tell me how is giving up freedoms going to make you safe ? Giving up freedoms only make you a slave and theres nothing safe about that at all…. Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. -Benjamin Franklin

Wow man, the first time i got stopped and frisked was in HS. I was on my way to basketball practice during a school holiday. I used my metro card, the cop stopped me and used my metro card as an excuse to frisk me for 15 mins. “You know you are not supposed to use your metro card during no school days.” I said to him “I have my school jersey and everything for bball practice.” He pointed his gun at me because i wouldn’t empty my pockets, saying that “i looked dangerous.” I was 16! :(

@andrefrbk Yes, Yale Law School did a great job with this subject and I wish this would go viral, but that only happens with music videos and entertainment I guess.
