Textbook: Meat Eaters Steal, Fight, Commit Sex Crimes

“Meat-eaters “easily cheat, lie, forget promises and commit sex crimes”, according to a controversial school textbook available in India. New Healthway, a book on hygiene and health aimed at 11 and 12 year-olds, is printed by one of India’s leading publishers. Academics have urged the government to exercise greater control. But the authorities say schools should monitor content as they are responsible for the choice of textbooks. “This is poisonous for children,” Janaki Rajan of the Faculty of Education at Jamia Millia University in Delhi told the BBC.”* Cenk Uygur, Ana Kasparian, and Ben Mankiewicz discuss the Indian textbookbook – is this religious dogma, or is the book a response from Indians eating more meat? *Read more from BBC: www.bbc.co.uk Support The Young Turks by Subscribing bit.ly Support The Young Turks by Shopping bit.ly Like Us on Facebook: www.fb.com Follow Us on Twitter: bit.ly Buy TYT Merch: theyoungturks.spreadshirt.com Find out how to watch The Young Turks on Current by clicking here: www.current.com

So are all our government provided textbooks. So what’s your point?

  2. rifter0x0000

Gandhi did *not* support Hitler. In fact he suggested that it was appropriate for Jews to use violence against Hitler because the nonviolent protest methodology would not work with him. It’s useless against an enemy with no morality or sense of shame at attrocity.

Another reason Indians are eating more meat is probably increased affluence, which is a factor in the increase in meat eating in other Asian countries (China for instance). Travel and all that are probably factors, as well as more relaxed attitudes regarding religion and dogma, but affluence and access are probably bigger factors.

vimeo.com/24984667#at=0 it’s true.. people that eat meat are being immoral – I think, although, the text books are getting a bit carried away.. they certainly are not far from the truth!

Why are people bickering so much? The fact is, You can eat whatever you want and get all the nutrients you need to live from plants, except B-12, without which you will die. B-12 is contained in NO plant sources. So you can be a vegetarian, but vegan’s have to supplement with at least a B-12 yeast source, so a vegan lifestyle is not natural. Morality is another thing.

no, he wasn’t… dumb ass comment

Why does this video presume all vegetarians are religious? I don’t like people judging one another either way, I don’t eat meat, but I don’t care when my friends do and vice versa. But some people just want to intrude on peoples lives, telling me I’m not a better person for not eating it, it’s natural.. some bad people were vegetarian!!… Why does it matter to them? Like these people claiming meat eaters are liars etc.. fucking stupid, everyone get out of each others eating habits.

    Well, i eat meat and i’m not a partisan in this;
but is likely that eating a lot of meat, along with rising your blood pressure and other problems, might make you more agressive. Personal opinion though.

  15. TheVanOorschot

He was a vegetarian. He made fun of people eating meat during dinners by telling them gruesome stories about the slaughter of animals.

I eat meat btw. And we all have the potential to be immoral.

Im a christian from India. i can tell that all Christians and Muslims eat variety of meat but not Hindus. Of course meat consumption will be higher every year but there are still some Hindus who follow and respect their religion. They are proud vegetarians. Bible says we should not have pork but does any one care about that? All the residuals of drugs used in all those animal that we eat, will definitely have an impact in our body.

As we all know, India is the second biggest market after China and these religious barriers are huge threat to many companies. And many of the products are altered when it comes to India .for example, Mcdonalds have vegetarian burgers which is of huge demand.

It is basically an either-them-or-us situation. Here’s the thing, we don’t get spears and stab them until they slowly and painfully die, as I’m sure you’re aware. It is in a very humane way. The only pain they get now is either a bullet to the head (which instantly gets you, so none), or a needle injecting you. That is, unless you personally go out and hunt them from nature, which is not possible for those large corps. Our brains MUST get a massive amount of protein, and what is meat made of?

actually Hitler did not drink alcohol

they out source those jobs to india not because they are smarter but because they are cheaper.
and no one can being to compair the intelligence of the indians to that of the americans cuz they will kick the americans arses to places they have never even heard about 😛
the whole notion of ostracising a single group (any group weither it were meat eaters, a religious sect whatever) should never be taught or involved in a school discussion whatsoever

  23. upabittoolate

I didn’t say anything about smart. I’m talking about prepared. There’s a difference. I don’t suppose you understand that nuance.

If it was legal to kill people, would that make it ethical? No, so clearly ethics is independent of the law. I don’t recognize any moral authorities, but I do recognize that humans use reason when dealing with ethics, and everything flows from axioms: causing suffering and removing happiness is bad, and creatig happiness and alleviating suffering is good. That’s just how we use those words.
